Chairman Kim Jong Il's Birthplace in Paektusan Secret Camp

Chairman Kim Jong Il's birthplace in the Paektusan Secret Camp is now covered with snow.

The Chairman was born at the camp in Mt Paektu of Korea on February 16, Juche 31 (1942).

On the day of seventy-nine years ago, the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters inscribed this happy news of the birth of the Shining Star of Mt Paektu on armful-thick trees to make it known to the public. And the nature, too, offered blessings to the birth of another heaven-sent great man of Paektu by forming frostworks.

The Paektusan Secret Camp is a secret base President Kim Il Sung set as a central stronghold for leading the overall Korean revolution and used as the center for activities of the main unit of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army during the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle.

In the camp, there is a monument inscribed with the poem "Shining Star" the President wrote on the occasion of the Chairman's 50th birthday.

The birthplace covered with snow is regarded as one of the eight famous scenes of the Sobaeksu Valley in Mt Paektu.
