Yaksandongdae in Nyongbyon
Yaksandongdae is a scenic place in the central part of Nyongbyon County, North Phyongan Province, which rises near the Kuryong River, two kilometres west of the county seat.
Yaksan means a mountain abundant in medicinal herbs and mineral water, while dongdae represents an observatory in the east when viewed from Muju (the mountain was divided into Muju, Yonju and Wiju in the past). Luxuriant foliage in summer, red tints in autumn and snowscape in winter present beautiful scenery, and more charming is full-blown, light-pink azalea blossoms covering the whole mountain in spring.
