32nd April Spring Friendship Art Festival Opens

The 32nd April Spring Friendship Art Festival opened here on Sunday to celebrate the 110th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

Taking part in the festival are art troupes, dance troupes, circuses of dozens of countries including China, Russia, Cuba, Vietnam, Laos, Belarus, Moldova, Hungary, Austria, France and Ethiopia and overseas Koreans' art troupes.

Presented to the festival are video segments on colorful performances of world-famous art troupes and artistes praising the greatness of President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un and representing the world progressive people's mind to add eternal luster to their immortal feats as well as the fine culture and tradition of different countries and nations and their building of new life.

Governments, personages of various circles and artistes of different countries including China, Russia, Cuba, Vietnam, Laos, Mongolia and Tajikistan sent video segments on their congratulatory speeches representing their pride and honor of participating in the festival and wishes for its successful holding through international communication channels.

The opening of the festival was televised on the Central TV of the DPRK and internet homepages including "Korean Art" by the festival organizing committee.

The videos, reflecting the ideal, tradition and vitality of the April Spring Friendship Art Festival, introduced the new form and method of the current festival, its scale and the congratulatory speeches from government officials and artistes of different countries and parts of art performances.

The Chinese minister of Culture and Tourism, the Russian minister of Culture and the Cuban vice-minister of Culture hoped in their congratulatory speeches that the April Spring Friendship Art Festival, promoting the friendship and cultural development among nations, would be successful.

Sung Jong Gyu, DPRK minister of Culture who is chairman of the festival organizing committee, extended deep thanks to the attendees of the 32nd April Spring Friendship Art Festival and the personages and artistes of different countries who exerted great efforts for the successful holding of the festival, expressing belief that the festival would contribute to the development of cultural relationship among countries.

A video on performance "Song of Peace and Friendship" by a Chinese art troupe decorated the opening of the festival.

The videos on art performances presented to the festival will be televised on the Central TV of the DPRK and posted on internet homepages including "Korean Art" till April 20.
