A Significant Vessel

The coach, car and vessel used by Chairman Kim Jong Il are preserved in the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the supreme sanctuary of Juche.

The Chairman used the vessel for the first time in September Juche 67 (1978).

Since then, he made field guidance trips to the units of the Korean People’s Army and several sectors of the national economy, sailing it over 500 times as long as 34 488 kilometres till October 2011.

Early on the morning of September 19, 1991, the sea wind blew at a speed of 15 to 18 metres per second and the waves were 3 to 4 metres high. So, all the ships were anchored at the news of typhoon warning. But Kim Jong Il got aboard the vessel to the destination of his field guidance trip.

January 12, 2010 witnessed a severe cold unprecedented in 70 years. But he went aboard the vessel for his inspection trip to a KPA unit together with commanding officers.

Every year, a large number of working people from all walks of life visit the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun and recollect Kim Jong Il, looking round the vessel.
