By Introducing Scientific Fish-breeding Method

The Unsan Catfish Farm, located in Unsan County of North Phyongan Province, is achieving successes in production by introducing a scientific fish-breeding method.

It has further rounded off the system of measuring and controlling on a real-time basis water temperature, pH and oxygen amount of all fishponds which make use of hot spring water, with the result that it increased catfish production per cubic metre of water so as to contribute to improving the people’s living standards in the county.

It also gains profits by establishing a protein-rich feed supply system with Hermetia illucens.

In recent years, it has developed a new kind of nutritive feed additive.

Ji Yong Sun, worker of the farm, said that assorted feed mixed with the additive made it possible to increase the weight of catfish while saving 10 to 20 percent of feed.
