In the Days of Holding First Democratic Election
The first democratic election in the DPRK was held on November 3, Juche 35 (1946).
The Provisional People’s Committee of North Korea was organized after Korea’s liberation (August 1945) and such democratic reforms as the agrarian reform was carried out successfully. As a result, favourable conditions for developing the revolution onto a new, higher stage were created in the northern half of Korea.
The class foundations of the PPCNK were further consolidated and the masses of working people absolutely trusted and supported the people’s government which would provide them with a happy life and guarantee it. Such situation provided sufficient conditions and possibilities for strengthening and developing the people’s government into a socialist one.

He led all the work for making election regulations and organizing the events on the election day.
He went deep among the people to learn in detail about the preparations for election and correct deviations, and made sure that they would greet the election with great patriotic enthusiasm and proud labour feats.
Under his leadership, their political consciousness and enthusiasm for building the country were raised remarkably and the whole country was enveloped with the election atmosphere.
When the nomination of candidate for the people’s committee started according to the election regulations, all the constituencies wrote a letter to
Workers and peasants of the then Samdung Sub-county, Kangdong County, South Phyongan Province, wrote a letter to
The representatives asked him a favour to visit their village in reflection of the residents in the sub-county.
So, he visited the sub-county on October 16, Juche 35 (1946) to meet the voters there.
In the mass rally held that day, he expressed his gratitude for nominating him as the candidate for a member of the South Phyongan Provincial People’s Committee and clarified the significance of the first democratic election and the immediate tasks for building the country.
And he called on all voters to go to the polls in order to cement the people’s power.
On November 3, a democratic election, the first of its kind in the history of the Korean people, was held successfully to further consolidate the people’s power.
