Conference of Military Educators Held

Kim Jong Un, First Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, First Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army, attended the Seventh Conference of Officials in Military Education, which was held in Pyongyang’s April 25 House of Culture on November 3-4.

The conference brought together lecturers and staff of military academies and officials of merit from the relevant sector.

The peerlessly great persons of Mt Paektu created Juche-based ideologies and theories on military education and wisely led the efforts to translate them into practice, performing exploits to go down in the history of building the revolutionary armed forces, KPA Vice Marshal Hwang Pyong So, director of the KPA General Political Bureau, said as he delivered a key-note speech in the event.

The great leaders’ ideologies on military education and the educational tradition are brilliantly being inherited and developed onto a higher level under the seasoned leadership of KPA Supreme Commander Kim Jong Un, he noted.

He called for upholding the noble intention of the Supreme Commander, who ensured a grand gathering of military educators to be written down in the annals of the history of army building, and making a fundamental change to military education to open a new golden age for military buildup.

He was followed by other high-ranking officers.

They referred to the achievements, experiences and lessons they have gained in their efforts to improve the quality of education and update teaching contents and methods on a constant basis, and vowed to bring about a decisive turn in military education.

Addressing the event, Kim Jong Un highly appreciated the achievements the teaching staff of the military academies have made in education.

Military education is a very important and responsible work to train the hard core of the People’s Army, he said, adding that the KPA’s fame as the invincible and elite revolutionary armed forces is a priceless fruition of the great leaders’ ideology of attaching importance to military education and their outstanding and sophisticated guidance.

He specified tasks to be tackled in carrying out the Party’s policy of renovating military education so as to build up military capabilities as much as possible.

The seed of the renovation in military education is to strengthen the ranks of the teaching staff of the academies at all levels and enhance their responsibility and role remarkably, and the renovation in military education is, in essence, that in the teaching staff, he stressed.

The linchpin of renovated military education is to inspire the cadets to work hard, he said, and they should launch an intense competition to improve their credentials.

It is needed, he noted, to update teaching contents and methods, reinvent conditions and environment for education and step up informatization and modernization of education as required by the times and development of the revolution, he said.

The conference adopted a letter of pledge to Kim Jong Un.
