AA Rocket Firing Drill Inspected

Kim Jong Un, First Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, First Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army, saw an AA rocket firing drill by the KPA anti-aircraft units in the western sector of the front.

The drill attended by four anti-aircraft units was aimed at checking and judging the technical situation of updated AA rockets and the ability of the anti-aircraft units in the western sector of the front to cope with real war, and finding ways for developing various kinds of new-type AA rockets, so as to bring about a turn in combat preparedness of the anti-aircraft field.

Prior to the drill, the Supreme Commander was briefed on the situation of the units and the order and method of firing at the observation post of the firing range.

While inspecting the drill, he told the commanding officers of the Air and Anti-aircraft Force and officials in charge of the defence science sector that they should make scrupulous efforts to further develop the AA rockets to round off combat preparedness and step up the efforts to make them modern and precise without interruption as required by the new century.

He stressed that the current drill served as an important occasion in implementing the Party’s military and strategic policy on bringing to further completion the Korean-style anti-aircraft tactics that accords the requirements of modern warfare, true to the Juche-oriented ideas of defence of territorial airspace advanced by the great leaders President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and effecting a fresh change in the combat preparedness of AA rocket artillery in keeping with the developing reality, and specified tasks for developing a variety of new-type AA rockets.

Referring to the enormously important duty of the AA rocket artillery in defending the country’s airspace, he said that the Air and Anti-aircraft Force should bring to perfection the ability of the AA rocket artillery to deal with real war through high-intensity drills and that the defence science sector should direct more positive efforts to developing various kinds of new-type AA rockets to meet the requirements of modern warfare to impregnably defend the blue sky of the county from any air strike of the enemy.

That day Kim Jong Un gave important tasks for raising the anti-aircraft system of the nation to a new strategic level.
