World Food Day Observed

There took place an event on World Food Day at the Taedonggang Diplomatic Club on October 16.

Present at the event were Ko Myong Hui, vice-minister of Agriculture, officials concerned, Darlene Tymo, representative of the WFP, the deputy representative of the FAO and members of the missions of international bodies, diplomatic envoys and staff members of foreign embassies in the DPRK.

Speakers referred to the fact that top priority has been given to the work to solve the food problem under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and supreme leader Kim Jong Un.

Recalling that many countries are suffering from food shortage in recent years, they said it is an important task facing the governments of all countries to solve the food problem by developing agriculture.

They pointed out that the DPRK has closely cooperated with various international organizations for the agricultural development on the principle of mutual benefit.

Introduced at the event were achievements and experience gained by the DPRK in various fields such as pomiculture, greenhouse vegetable cultivation and potato production.
