Int'l Day of Older Persons Marked in DPRK
Various sports and cultural events took place in different parts of the DPRK to mark the International Day of Older Persons.
Children of the Pyongyang Schoolchildren's Palace and Pyongyang Baby Home and Pyongyang Orphanage and health-seekers of the Pyongyang Rest Home gave an art performance on October 1 to delight the aged.



In various parks and gymnasiums of Pyongyang many aged persons were seen playing sports and amusement games with vigour. Meanwhile, an aged contest in sports and amusement games began in each district of the city on September 24.
Similar events were also held in localities of the country.
Hwang Chol Ho, section chief of the Central Committee of the Federation for the Care of the Elderly of Korea, said: The aged persons in the country are now leading a happy and pleasant life under the deep care of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government, which regard it as a noble moral obligation to respect the forerunners of the revolution. We will continue to organize peculiar sports and cultural events so as to contribute to creating a social atmosphere for respecting the aged.
