Field Guidance to Rehabilitation
of Flood-Stricken Rason

Kim Jong Un, First Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, First Chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army, gave on-site guidance to the campaign for restoring flood-damaged Rason City.

He said that the KPA service personnel have worked day and night in order to carry out the order issued by their Supreme Commander, thereby opening a bright vista for bringing to completion the rehabilitation of Rason City within the time set by the Party and on the level it requires, and that they are waging the campaign like lightning, like a charge of dynamite set off. The miracle and feats they perform in the theatres of construction sites inspire all the people across the country with firm confidence in and encouragement to victory, he added.

He said: he could not go to sleep when thinking of the flood sufferers in Rason City, he came to the spot as he thought his personal tour of the rehabilitation would relieve him from worries, and now he feels all the weights lifted from his mind at the sight of the dwelling houses for the people mushrooming thanks to the devoted efforts of the service personnel of the People’s Army who fight through fire and water to carry through the order given by the Party at any cost.

Noting that it is his determination to provide the flood sufferers with modern houses more excellent than those where they had lived in, he gave an instruction on conducting more vigorously the campaign for building houses, the major project of the rehabilitation.

He stressed the need to step up the construction of houses and public establishments in a three-dimensional way and by the finish-one-by-one method and speed campaign and, at the same time, to ensure in a thoroughgoing way the quality of building work in construction as required by the design and rearrange the quarters for the houses and surrounding areas on the highest level.

Saying that the soldier-builders should display their features as the army of the people through the rehabilitation, he instructed them to make the on-going campaign an important occasion for demonstrating the regularized appearance of the powerful revolutionary army of Mt Paektu and further cementing the army-people unity.

He ardently called on all the builders to complete at any cost the rehabilitation on the highest level prior to the 70th founding anniversary of the WPK, so that cheers of people living in socialist system and for the Workers’ Party and single-hearted unity would reverberate more loudly over the sky of October.

He said to the officials that they should make devoted efforts for the rosy future of the people, always bearing deep in mind the trust and expectation of the best people in the world who have placed deep trust in the Party and invariably followed it generation after generation, and have a greater respect for the people as we hold the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in high esteem.
