WPK Central Military Commission Calls Emergency Meeting
The situation of the country is teetering on the brink of war due to the relentless anti-DPRK political and military acts of provocation by the US and puppet south Korea.
Following the controversial “mine explosions” on August 4 in the west-front demilitarized zone, the hawkish south Korean military has restarted anti-north psychological warfare propaganda across the front, which is running all day long. Their hostile leaflet scattering operations involving die-hard reactionary organizations have gone too far to be tolerated any longer.
The psychological warfare is naturally a blatant act of war of aggression against the DPRK.
It is a vicious political and military provocation to bring down the ideology and social system chosen by the DPRK people and defended by its service personnel at the cost of their lives and seize all the realms of the DPRK government and the people’s life.
The General Staff of the Korean People’s Army already issued a 48-hour ultimatum on August 20 to the south Korean defence ministry to stop the restarted anti-north propaganda and withdraw all the psychological warfare facilities, or tough military actions will be launched immediately.
Nevertheless, the frantic south Korean military fabricated a “north’s artillery shelling” in the afternoon of August 20 before firing dozens of shells at the DPRK territory.
Such overt political and military outrages are driving the country to a touch-and-go situation.
To cope with the grave challenges, the Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea convened an emergency enlarged meeting late on August 20.
Supreme leader
The meeting brought together the members of the WPK CMC and the operations section of the KPA General Staff, commanders of the KPA frontline large combined units, leading officials of the state and public security agencies, senior Party Central Committee officials and officials in the diplomatic sector.
There was a briefing on the report from the General Bureau of Reconnaissance of the KPA General Staff about the circumstances and truth of the military provocations that occurred in the afternoon of August 20 on the mid-western sector of the front as well as the overall enemy movements. The frontline large combined units’ combat preparedness as of 23:00 on August 20 was checked and political and military countermeasures were discussed to foil the enemy’s war moves. The KPA Front Command’s offensive operational plan, which is designed to launch an immediate counterstrike and counteroffensive across the front in emergency, was examined and ratified.
The WPK CMC approved the decision of the KPA General Staff which released the ultimatum to south Korea’s defence ministry at 17:00 on August 20 to stop the hostile propaganda and remove all the psychological warfare facilities in 48 hours or face a full-on military campaign.
KPA Supreme Commander
Commanding officers, who will control the local military operations to destroy the enemy’s psychological facilities if the propaganda fails to be stopped in 48 hours and put down the enemy’s possible reactions, were appointed and dispatched to the front with no delay.
In line with the declaration of the semi-war state in the frontline areas, measures were taken to ensure the relevant Party and government organs, working people’s organizations, security, justice and prosecution agencies, industrial establishments, farms and all the other units in the areas establish a semi-war system.
Tasks in the diplomatic sector were specified to lay bare the truth of the current situation caused by the enemy’s overt and sudden invasion.
