Memorandum on Peerlessly Great Leaders' Exploits for National Reunification

Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- The Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country of the DPRK on July 6 released a memorandum detailing the exploits the peerlessly great men performed for national reunification on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the last autograph left by President Kim Il Sung on the document related to national reunification.

President Kim Il Sung is the eternal sun of the nation and lodestar of reunification who set it as the top priority task of the nation to achieve the national reunification from the very day of the territorial and national division forced by the outsiders, consistently held fast to the line of one Korea and reunification and led the struggle for carrying it out, the memorandum said, and went on:

After Korea's liberation the President convened the Joint Conference of Representatives of Political Parties and Social Organizations in North and South Korea and led the nation-wide struggle for frustrating the moves of the sycophants and traitors to divide the Korean nation.

He proposed to enforce the federal formula of the north and the south in the 1950s and 1960s when the situation was extremely tense due to the confrontation and war racket by the separatists within and without.

He saw to it that the July 4 joint statement was adopted, the keynote of which is the three principles of national reunification, in the early 1970s.

In the 1980s and 1990s he newly advanced the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo (DFRK) which comprehensively embodies the three principles of national reunification and the 10-Point Programme of the Great Unity of the Whole Nation for the Reunification of the Country. They are the most realistic and square guidelines for achieving the national reunification as early as possible.

He personally proposed the north-south summit and worked heart and soul for it, thinking of the great cause of the nation before anything else during the last moments of his life.

The cause of national reunification pioneered and guided by the President had been victoriously advanced by leader Kim Jong Il.

The memorandum said that Kim Jong Il formulated the three principles of national reunification, the DFRK founding proposal, the 10-Point Programme of the Great Unity of the Whole Nation for the Reunification of the Country as the three charters for national reunification to be held by the entire Korean nation, and inspiringly aroused all the fellow countrymen to the struggle for implementing them.

It noted that in June 2000 he provided the north-south summit meeting for the first time in the history of national division and provided the Korean nation with the June 15 joint declaration.

It pointed out that he arranged another north-south summit meeting in Pyongyang in October 2007 and provided the Korean nation with the "Declaration for Development of North-South Relations and Peace and Prosperity", a programme for implementing the June 15 joint declaration.

The Korean people's movement for national reunification is now greeting a fresh heyday thanks to the guidance of the respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, it said.

It noted that Kim Jong Un solemnly clarified his firm determination and will to accomplish the cause of national reunification without fail, true to the behests of the great leaders, through his on-site inspection of Panmunjom in March 2012 and his speech made at the military parade for celebrating the centenary of birth of Kim Il Sung.

He provided the north-south summit meeting and talks in Panmunjom on April 27, 2018 and adopted the Panmunjom declaration, sparking emotion and cheers of the whole nation and the world, it stated.

It said that he held the 4th north-south summit meeting and talks on May 26 in a blitz way and made important agreements for settling the matters arising in rapidly implementing the Panmunjom Declaration and thus propelled the development of the inter-Korean relations at a higher level.

It stressed that the rosy future of the Korean nation and the decisive guarantee for national reunification lie in upholding and following Kim Jong Un, identical to the great leaders in idea, guidance and traits, as the sun of the nation and lodestar of national reunification.
