In every balmy spring when all flowers come into full bloom, Pyongyang, capital of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea hosts the April Spring Friendship Art Festival, drawing great expectations and interests of artistes, cultural workers and other people in different countries of the world.

The April Spring Friendship Art Festival is an internationally recognized grand art festival which takes place every 2 years with the purpose to promote friendship, solidarity, exchange and cooperation among cultural workers and artistes of different countries under the ideals of independence, peace and friendship.

The April Spring Friendship Art Festival has marked its 31 annual rings since April 1982 when it drew up its first curtain on the occasion of the 70th birth anniversary of the great leader Kim Il Sung. In its whole history the festival was participated by 1,961 organizations from 1,148 countries in the 5 continents of the world – 18,717 cultural workers and artistes in all, including the international prize winners and other famous artistes of the world, and overseas Korean artistes.
