Tower of the Juche Idea was built as a grand edifice in the era of independence
on the bank of the Taedong River in Pyongyang.
It is a grand
monumental edifice erected to hand down to posterity the undying exploits President
Kim Il Sung performed for the Korean and world revolution by creating
the immortal Juche idea.
The Tower of the Juche Idea was unveiled on April 15, 1982 on the occasion of the 70th birthday of President Kim Il Sung.
The creation of the Juche idea is the most brilliant and immortal exploit among the achievements President Kim Il Sung made throughout his life.
The Juche idea is an idea that the popular masses are the masters of the revolution and construction and they have the power to promote the revolution and construction.
In other words, it is an idea that one is the master of his own destiny and has the power to shape his destiny.

The Juche idea is based on the philosophical principle that man is the master of everything and decides everything.
That man is the master of everything means that he is the master of the world and of his own destiny.
That man decides everything means that he plays the decisive role in transforming the world and in shaping his destiny. It is because man is a social being with independence, creativity and consciousness.
The Juche idea shows a new viewpoint and attitude to the world.
The viewpoint is that the world is dominated and reshaped by man.
It also means approaching the world from the viewpoint of interests of man, the master of the world, and dealing with the change and development of the world mainly on the basis of the activity of man who transforms it.
The Tower of the Juche Idea is 170 meters high, the tower 150 meters and the torch atop the tower 20 meters.
The stone tower symbolizes the great ideo-theoretical achievements of President Kim Il Sung.

15th of April, 1982
The 4-meter-high and 15-meter-long panel inscribed with the hymn of praise
symbolizes April 15, 1912, the birthday of President Kim Il Sung.
The flower baskets adorned on the left and right flanks of the tower relfect the people's best wishes for President Kim Il Sung.
There are 70 flowers, 35 on each side.
The flowers reflect the people's aspiration to bring the Juche idea into bloom.
Choice
stones sent by prominent personages and adherents to the Juche idea of different
countries
These stones were sent from different countries in praise of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il who creditably succeeds to the revolutionary cause of Juche.
The wall is adorned with 252 choice stones sent by 80-odd countries and international organizations.
People of south Korea donated many stones including those inscribed with the letters "Juche idea guides the era of independence," "Rays brightening the world" and "Long live Comrade Kim Jong Il, great sun of guidance."
A choice stone
was also sent from China on the occasion of the 80th birthday of President
Kim
Il Sung and the 50th birthday of leader Kim Jong Il, which is inscribed
with 80 Kimilsungia flowers and 50 Kimjongilia flowers and the
letters "Long live the great Juche idea!"
The stones from across the world reflect the world people's reverence for President Kim Il Sung.

A worker holds a hammer, a peasant a sickle and a working intellectual a brush.
President Kim Il Sung, regarding the intellectuals as the components of the Workers' Party of Korea, saw to it that a brush, together with a hammer and a sickle, was inscribed in the emblem of the party.

depicts the brilliant victory of President

an independent national economy and the might of the Juche-based industry rapidly
developing toward Juche-orientation, modernization and scientification.
It is 10 meters long, 11.5 meters wide and 600 tons in weight.
"Bumper
Crops"
This shows the great vitality of the Juche methods of farming, the embodiment of the immortal Juche idea in agriculture.
It truthfully
depicts the joy of agricultural workers who have brought rich harvest in both
flat and mountainous areas by applying the Juche methods of farming advanced
by
President Kim Il Sung.
It is 9.8 meters high, 11.5 meters wide and 700 tons in weight.

This group sculpture
shows the happiness of pupils and students of the DPRK who study free of
charge and improve their ability to their hearts' content under the rays of
"Theses on the Socialist Education" set forth by President
Kim Il Sung.
It is 9.5 meters high, 11.5 meters wide and 460 tons in weight.
"Impregnable
Fortress"
This portrays the invincible vitality of the self-defensive military line of the Workers' Party of Korea through the depiction of a serviceman of the People's Army and a Worker-Peasant Red Guardsman defending the socialist motherland with credit.
It is 9.5 meters high, 11.5 meters wide and 420 tons in weight.
"Land
of Longevity"
This depicts the superiority of the socialist system of the DPRK and the happy life of the Korean people under the brilliant rays of the great Juche idea.
It is 8.5 meters high, 11.5 meters wide and 432 tons in weight.
"Juche-oriented Art"
This group sculpture shows the happy life of the people in the DPRK where everybody creates art and enjoys it to his heart's content.
It is 9.5 meters high, 11.5 meters wide and 481 tons in weight.

The fountains spout water to a height of 170 meters in the middle of the Taedong River in Pyongyang, reflecting the warm reverence of the Korean people for President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il.
